How independent artist Natalie Holmes ships records worldwide with confidence

Independent musicians invest huge amounts of time and care into their sound, artwork and physical releases, so the packaging used to send those records out into the world matters. When songwriter Natalie Holmes released her new album Opposite Day alongside her first vinyl pressing, she set out to find protective packaging that would stand up to long-distance travel without compromising presentation.

Natalie is known for her poetic writing style and honey toned vocals, described by critics as both soothing and quietly arresting. Her catalogue spans more than a decade and covers pop, acoustic, electronic and ambient work, including high profile collaborations.

A prolific independent artist with a wide creative range

Natalie’s career began with homemade videos on YouTube in 2010. That early work helped shape an artist with a thoughtful approach to songwriting, touching on themes of mental health, resilience, nature and personal renewal. She has since released EPs, singles, and the album Vitamin Be, which gained support from BBC Radio 2, BBC 6, Clash and EARMILK.

Her collaborations reflect notable variety. Electronic releases on Anjunabeats, choral arrangements, acoustic tours, festival appearances, and a role as a lead vocalist on Above & Beyond’s Acoustic World Tour all feature in her body of work. Tracks such as Zero and Doubt You have reached global audiences and drawn millions of streams.

This wide reach places specific demands on how her physical products are shipped, particularly high value, limited pressings of vinyl records.

Why Natalie chose The Packaging Club for vinyl mailers

When preparing to ship Opposite Day on vinyl, Natalie wanted packaging strong enough to manage overseas routes without risk of corner compression, seam splitting or bending. She trialled our folding vinyl packaging then paired it with our individual vinyl envelopes from the vinyl mailer range at thepackagingclub.co.uk/collections/vinyl-record-mailers.

Her feedback:

The LP wrap vinyl packaging felt so secure and I was in no doubt my albums would be safe travelling any distance. I decided to try the individual LP wallet packaging as they would take up less space being stored (a big thing for independent artists collecting boxes and boxes of merch in small homes!), and they also felt very secure. I’m saving the remaining LP wrapsfor if someone orders more than one as they are very versatile in size, whereas the LP wallets fit a single vinyl very snugly.

I also enjoy supporting UK businesses so this was a huge factor for me, and I felt I could trust the quality. Thanks guys :)

The folding design gives the vinyl a buffer zone that protects record sleeves from transit impacts. Corrugated board resists flex during handling, and the mailers close securely without the need for additional wrapping. Independent artists often fulfil orders alone, so packaging that is fast to assemble can make a real difference during busy release periods.

Sending records across the world

Natalie’s audience is international, with fans ordering from Europe, North America and beyond. Long distance shipping can place pressure on vinyl pressings, particularly limited runs where every copy counts. Damage claims and replacements can quickly eat into margins for independent creators who self fund their releases.

The Packaging Club vinyl record packaging range is designed to meet this requirement, supporting labels, independent artists and fulfilment partners that need reliable and repeatable protection for single LPs, heavy gatefolds or collector editions.
